CAN I SUBMIT A FILM IN A LANGUAGE OTHER THAN ENGLISH?

Please do, as long as it contains English subtitles.

DOES LLICFF ACCEPT INTERNATIONAL ENTRIES?

Yes! LLICFF encourages international participation and we want to hear from you.

DO I HAVE TO HAVE COPYRIGHT CLEARANCES?

Yes! You must own all the copyrights and have written permissions where necessary to use all underlying works in your film, including music, performances and script, check with your parents and teachers about this need.

ARE THERE RESTRICTIONS?

Yes! The majority of your film must have been made by young people aged between 6 and 18. You can include adults as performers in your film, but the scripting, direction and crewing of your film must have been done mostly by young people. However, we do recognise that adult filmmaking mentors and school teachers are often on board to help you.

MY MUM, DAD, TEACHER OR OTHER ADULT HELPED IN THE EDITING? WILL MY FILM BE ACCEPTED?

LLICFF recognises that help is often needed by young people learning to be filmmakers. We want you to give it a go, so yes, ask for help from an adult when you need it.

We are professional filmmakers. We can tell when a film has been made by a professional film maker!

And so we are more interested in the story you have to tell, than whether it’s technically great.

IF I MAIL A DVD/BLURAY SCREENER, WILL IT BE RETURNED TO ME?

Submission materials in these media will not be returned. We strongly advise using the FILMFREEWAY upload platform.

CAN MY FILM HAVE BEEN SCREENED IN ANOTHER FESTIVAL?

Yes, however films cannot be available to be seen online, or have had a cinema release.

HOW WILL I KNOW IF MY FILM IS SELECTED?

Due to the large volume of submissions, we are not able to respond to every filmmaker regarding the status of their film. Notifications will be sent in early June. If you have not heard from us by early June, your film was not selected for this year’s Festival.

MY FILM WAS NOT SELECTED, CAN YOU PROVIDE FEEDBACK?

Due to the volume of submissions we receive and our limited resources, we are not able to provide feedback on films that were not selected.

DO YOU ACCEPT FILMS MADE BY CHILDREN?

YES, that is our mission. Films made by young people aged 7-18 are eligible for submission.

CAN I SUBMIT MORE THAN ONE FILM?

Yes, definitely! We want to see your work, and welcome as many submissions as you’d like to send us. If you are a school planning on submitting more than 4 films, please contact us for information on a discounted submission fee. programming@llicff.org.au

I HAVE LIMITED FINANCIAL RESOURCES, CAN I HAVE A SUBMISSION FEE WAIVER

Some fee waivers are available on application. However the LLICFF is a Not-For-Profit festival run by a small staff under Ranges Academy of Performing Arts (RAPA) Inc. The viability of the festival is reliant on submission funds, however we will assess applications on an individual basis. Contact us and explain the reason you cannot afford the fee. You will need to provide your country of production and residence.
